“With version 9, we are taking RoboHelp and RoboHelp Server to the next level by helping our customers incorporate important Industry trends taking place today into their TechComm workflow. Trends like User-generated content, Community-based User Assistance, Rich Internet Applications, Content Personalization, Rich Media, Mobile publishing, the Cloud and others.
I have been close to this product for a long time, from my days of working at eHelp corporation and later at Macromedia and now at Adobe, and without a doubt, I can say this will be by far the most exciting release in the history of RoboHelp.
One thing that sets RoboHelp apart from similar applications is how our customers will be able to leverage and benefit from various Adobe technologies, such as Adobe AIR, Adobe Acrobat, Distiller and now Acrobat.com and our integration with MS SharePoint, as you will see in the video below.
So take a few minutes to watch this video, and check out how we are bringing geographically disparate teams together using the Cloud, as well as your existing MS SharePoint deployment.” – RJ Jacquez

Teaching my RoboHelp and Captivate Classes with the new Adobe Connect 8
November 22, 2010The new Adobe Connect 8 has been released and provides a more comfortable way for me to teach my virtual training and consulting sessions for Adobe RoboHelp and Adobe Captivate. The screen sharing is extremely responsive and there is very little delay between my on screen actions and what the student sees. I always use two computers and two internet connections to get an accurate view of what my students are seeing. The VoIP and integrated phone conferencing options make it easy to record sessions for playback by the student. They can view the session again at their leisure.
Another convenience of a virtual classroom is that I can offer consulting sessions that are much more affordable because I don’t have to pass along the travel expenses.
I see where Adobe is offering a 30-day trial for Adobe Connect 8 at this address.

Sneak Preview of Adobe RoboHelp 9, FrameMaker 10 and TCS 3!
November 21, 2010From the Tekom conference in Germany, Adobe’s RJ Jacquez reports important news, “We are working on the next major versions of our Technical Communication products, including FrameMaker 10, RoboHelp 9 and the whole Technical Communication Suite 3 software.
“One presentation in particular that resonated well wherever I went was ‘From Static Help to Community-based User Assistance,’ where I started talking about how traditional Help has remained static for 20 years and yet so many revolutions have taken place along the way, namely Social Media, Explosion of Information (i.e. user-generated content), Search, Video and Mobile, and then provided practical ways and examples of how we should leverage of all these trends moving forward.

Windows 7 and Adobe RoboHelp install is successful
November 28, 2009This was a good day for me and Adobe RoboHelp (and TCS 2)!
I successfully installed (in one day!):
- Windows 7 Professional on a desktop machine
- IIS
- SQL Server Express 2008
- Apache Tomcat
- Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2
- Adobe CS 4 Master Collection
- RoboHelp Server 8
- RoboSource Control
All installed and “play nicely” together! I was especially happy to see RoboHelp Server 8 working well with a merged help project and even RoboSource Control installed without a hitch using SQL Server Express 2008.
